Description

TEAM ROOK (FEMALE)

Though the birds of chaos, Washera and Ryguru, have not been seen in the Ovaro region for centuries, their impact is still felt within the local lore and mythology.

Team Rook is a cult that was established many years ago which worships the birds of chaos, foretells of their return, and who perform many rituals to appease the birds. They live their lives free of materialism, and often look disdainfully upon modern society which has forgotten all links to its heritage. Some people become enamoured with their simple lives which eschew technology and consumerism, and become inducted into their cult in the hope of finding spiritual peace.

They are largely inoffensive and many people in the Ovaro Region see them as an outdated and kooky cult who pose no threat. However, during their journey in the Ovaro region, the player begins to investigate their suspicious actions.

Their base resides within Chumpi Town in the Team Room Nest, a large, old wooden structure that resembles a bird's nest. It houses sleeping quarters and a vast array of books on mythology which the grunts are ordered to study in their spare time. In battle, they use various Flying- Type Pokémon as well as other Dark, Normal, Bug and Poison types. The player encounters Team Rook at various points in their journey, often while performing rituals, though other times they may be causing trouble.

--

Team Rook was inspired by old religious cults and sects. Their clothes are meant to look old and nomadic with black feathers and aviator goggles.

The word 'Rook' is a noun that refers to a black crow, but, as a verb, 'rook' can also mean to swindle or defraud someone.
